This sterling silver pendant is handmade and consists of a deer antler sickle and a branch of mistletoe. This jewelry combines nature, floral elements with witch and pagan features as most of my other pieces do. Druidess necklace is inspired by the sacred druid ceremony which happened during the the winter solstice. The chief would cut the mistletoe from the Oak with a sickle and divide the branches and distributed them to the people, who hung them over doorways as protection against thunder, lightning and other evils. Mistletoe is a plant that grows on various trees, it is held in great veneration when found on Oak trees. It comes from the Old English misteltãn and means "All Heal". The Druids believed mistletoe to be an indicator of great sacredness, possessed healing powers and bestowed fertility. Although not a lot of information about them has survived, the Druids were the men and women sages, magicians and wise priests of the Celts. Caesar wrote, about the Druids, that they "know much about the stars and celestial motions, and about the size of the earth and universe, and about the essential nature of things, and about the powers and authority of the immortal gods; and these things they teach to their pupils." Mistletoe was sacred according to Norse mythology too. According to the story, Baldur, son of Frigg, the Goddess of Love and Beauty had a dream in which he dies. Frigg went to all the elements, air, fire, water and earth as well as all the animals and plants on earth and asked them to spare her son. But Loki, God of Evil, found one plant that Frigga had overlooked - Mistletoe. Mistletoe grows neither on the ground nor under the ground - rather, it’s an aerial plant that has no roots of its own and attaches itself to the tree it grows on. Loki made a poisoned arrow tip with the Mistletoe and tricked Baldur's blind brother, Hoder, into shooting the arrow and killing Baldur. The whole world was plunged into mourning. The white berries of the mistletoe represent Frigg’s tears. When Baldur is resurrected, the plant comes to represent everlasting life, and it is a symbol of love to kiss beneath the mistletoe. Jewelry Care and Points to Consider -Remove your jewelry while swimming, salty water or the chemicals on a pool would damage them. -Remove your rings while you are washing dishes or cleaning something using cleansers other than soap. -Keep your jewelry in a zip bag, (preferably wrapped in a cloth or a paper napkin within a zip bag) while you are not wearing them. To place a jewelry in open air or in a drawer without covering it will accelerate the darkening. -Silver and brass do gain patina with time. Sweat, creams etc. accelerate it. The lasting of the polish on the jewelry piece depends on your skin type and whether or not you pay attention to aforementioned tips. With time your jewelry will gain a nice patina, but paying attention to these tips will slow the process and make the patina nicer. -Some of my jewelry contain pointy parts, not all jewelry are for daily wear, some of them are fine art pieces. Please be careful when wearing this kind of jewelry while taking care of children or pets.

OUT OF PRINT! Last remaining copies! VENEFICIUM concerns the intersection of magic and poison. Of particular note to this study are the herbs of the so-called ‘Devil’s Garden’, which bear relation to the allied witchcraft concepts of the Graal of Midnight, the Witches’ Supper, and the flying ointment of the witches which has exerted fascination over scholars, historians, and practitioners alike. Beyond consideration of the toxicological dimensions of magical power, the related threads of astral and philosophical poisons are also examined, and their resonance and dissonance with magical practice explored. VENEFICIUM will be of interest to students of magic, witchcraft, alchemy, botanical folklore, medicine, and occult pharmacology. First published in late Summer 2012, Schulke’s book on esoteric toxicology Veneficium was an instant success, selling out in six months. Its principal concern is the intersection of magic and poison, originating in remotest antiquity and reaching into the occult traditions of present day. Beyond their functions as agents of bodily harm, poisons have also served as gateways of religious ecstasy, occult knowledge, and sensorial aberration, as well as the basis of cures. Allied with Samael, the Edenic serpent of first transgression whose name in some interpretations is ‘Venom of God’, this facet of magic wends through the rites of ancient Sumer and Egypt, through European Necromancy, Alchemy, the arcane the rites of the Witches’ Sabbath, and modern-day folk magic. The second edition of Veneficium is now properly contextualized within a trilogy of forthcoming books entitled Triangulum Lamiarum (‘Triangle of the Witches’), each of which concerns a specific ontological aspect of witchcraft. Veneficium, of course, treats the occult parameters of poison, toxins, and venom, and their presence in witchcraft and allied magical arts. Newly released, the second edition of Veneficium contains the first edition in its entirety, but there are some notable expansions and evolutions: —a new typographic design for the entire book, to be used for the whole of the trilogy —slight expansions of certain chapters —one additional chapter —additional images —a new title page illustration by artist Benjamin A. Vierling, as well as two new ornaments by the same —correction of typographic errors from the first edition, as well as footnote enumerations —an index —an acknowledgments section. The second edition also expands the published formats. Second Edition – Standard Hardcover Edition

100 % cotton tea towel, 80 x 50 cm Matthew Hopkins, of Manningtree in Essex, England , was the self proclaimed Witchfinder General in East Anglia between 1644 and 1647. He was responsible for the persecution and unjust deaths of 300 women during this short period, and accounted for the majority of witch trials during this dark period. The convictions were mainly obtained by forced confessions, and Hopkins gained considerable financial benefit from his activities. His book The Discovery of Witches influenced later atrocities in New England, most notably in Salem. His brutal legacy was summed up by the eminent scholar Montague Summers who observed that “his crusade up and down the eastern counties, which created something like a reign of terror at the time, has caused his name to stink in the nostrils of all decent persons ever since”.

Akiya Kageichi is a Japanese illustrator who calls himself Golden Gravel, a name which may refer to Japanese rock gardens. His sinister jesters, lazy rulers and clandestine warriors are set within scenes full of chaotic imagery. Astrological symbols, particularly moons, are heavily prominent, suggesting the mysterious forces of dark nights are at work. In a single plane, objects morph, creating dynamic and active scenes. Kageichi reveals hidden underworlds and secret futures, in which sorcery and witchcraft pull the strings and determine what happens in the real world.
It’s certainly no slight to the late director Curtis Harrington to describe The Wormwood Star, his visually arresting 1955 portrait of occult artist/beatnik weirdo Marjorie Cameron as being “Anger-esque” considering that he’d served as the cinematographer for Kenneth Anger’s Puce Moment and that it stars Cameron, one of Anger’s most well-known cinematic avatars (Cameron famously played “The Scarlet Woman” in Inauguration of The Pleasure Dome and Harrington himself portrayed “Cesare the Somnambulist” in that film. Additionally, Paul Mathison, who played “Pan” in Anger’s druggy occult vision was the art director of The Wormwood Star). Until The Wormwood Star came out on DVD and Blu-ray recently via Drag City/Flicker Alley as part of The Curtis Harrington Short Film Collection, it was very, very scarce and very difficult to see. You either had to be a friend of Curtis Harrington, probably, or have had a mutual friend with the late director (that’s how I saw it) or maybe see it in a museum. Now it’s on YouTube, of course. So we’ve established that’s it’s, er, Angery, meaning that there’s more than a fair share of visual flair, drama and...
You horrible woman. You don't care, do you, anything for a story, and anyone will do, won't they?Hermione Granger admonishing Rita's horrid personality Rita Skeeter (b. 1951) was a British witch and journalist who specialised in writing poison-pen stories. These stories tended to be based on false information and misreported interviews. She wrote articles for the Daily Prophet, as well as a few 'tell-all' biographies. Skeeter preferred writing for the sake of publicity and wrote what she thought
Under the Witching Tree; is the first offering in a trilogy of books by Corinne Boyer a folk-herbalist known for her work exploring both the traditional medicinal and magical applications of plants and trees which, as Corinne explains in her video introducing the trilogy, are often revealed through their accumulated folklore. This is a trilogy that guides us into the realms of plant lore, folk magic and folk medicine. The first book, Under the Witching Tree, focuses on the rustic magical traditions surrounding trees from western and northern Europe and north America. Corinne’s work, backed up by nearly twenty years of experience in the field, is full of information that is today little known, particularly within modern herbalism. This is a book which presents the reader with a wealth of home-spun and very hands-on practices exploring tales, charms, spells, recipes and rites focusing on twenty different trees. ***Books will be shipped within 14 days of order placement***
