Description: This lithographed print originates from Viala and Vermorel's 'Ampelographie, Traite general de Viticulture' (more colloquially known as Viala and Vermorel's Ampelography). This work, spanning 7 volumes (and ten years of production) was published between 1901 and 1910, and contained descriptions of over 5000 species of grapes (and lists a staggering 24000 names, including varieties), with illustrations of 580 of these of which 500 in colour. An expensive work. Artists and Engravers: The authors of this work are Pierre Viala (1859-1936) and Victor Vermoral (1848-1927). The artists associated with the lithographs are A. Kreijder and J. Troncy. Alexis Kreijder (or Kreyder, 1839-1912) was a French painter, who is noted for his works involving flowers and fruit. He is a student of Eugene Lavilla in Strasbourg.
