National Mills Day May 10, 2008. An amazingly sunny day with a great breeze out of the East by South East. I usually have at least a dozen people out of Broeksterwoude (the village nearby) come along and visit on Mill Day but today they were all at the beach I quess. The only ones interested were these three ladies. No matter, I still had a fabulous day in the wind and sun. View On Black Broekmole te Broeksterwoude. www.molendatabase.nl

"The Old Windmill at Stage Harbor" by Harold Brett was painted as an illustration for Joseph C. Lincoln's "Cape Cod Yesterydays" ( publ. 1935). The print quality used in the book does not do justice to the illustrations - the original painting must be stunning. "The Old Mill, built 1797 - Chatham, Mass." by Harold T. Sawyer (postcard c. 1935). This image was created after the fan of the Godfrey Windmill had been destroyed during a gale in 1932 - notice that the mill's arms are drawn in, while the rest of the image is a tinted photograph. The mill was not repaired until the mid 1950s. To learn more about this historic grist mill, visit ChathamWindmill.com
