Wuthering Heights Literary work, illustrated and set in a story of revenge and hatred, of unbridled passions and desperate loves by Fernando Vicente

Wuthering Heights, Emily Brontë's 1847 novel, is an incredibly complex narrative. It's crammed with stories-within-stories, generations of characters (many of whom have the same name) and flashbacks to minute plot details about who married whom. It can be a little difficult to keep all of the details straight (the Victorians seemed to have longer attention spans than we do), but the most important thing to keep in mind is the fierce and passionate love between Catherine and Heathcliff. Although social conventions prevent them from marrying, their obsession with one another continues even beyond the grave.
“He's more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.” ― Emily Brontë, Wuthering Heights This is an original Papercut, an art form in which an entire image is hand-cut from a single sheet of paper. The artwork is mounted on beautiful, Indian cotton rag paper, then displayed on a sturdy 11" x 14" black mat. It's ready to be placed into a frame, if so desired. Each piece includes a unique certificate of authenticity. This is an original artwork, not a print. Each piece is entirely handmade, signed and dated. Due to the handcrafted nature of this artwork, each piece may have subtle differences. The mounted artwork comes in a protective, archival-quality, cellophane sleeve and will be shipped to you with the utmost care. "Wuthering Heights" is also available in black or white wood frames with glass fronts - see under my framing service offer. Although Emily Brontë helpfully includes a family tree to explain the relationships among her characters, understanding them takes a little work. Here are some helpful ways to discern who she’s talking about: Wuthering Heights focuses on two Yorkshire families, the Earnshaws, who live at Wuthering Heights, and the Lintons, who live at Thrushcross Grange. …
Today's vintage book is not a children's book, (It could certainly be read by a teenager though) but the classic story of Wuthering Heights. I'm showing this book because of the phenomenal wood engravings by the uber talented Fritz Eichenberg. I won't be straying from my usual format of vintage children's picture books. However, once in a while I may show something like this, especially if it's an artist who has illustrated children's books. If you would like to view previous posts on Fritz Eichenberg, click here for Ape in a Cape or here for A Child's Christmas in Wales.
