Created by the Italian yarn arts group Sul filo dell'arte, I've been watching this breathtaking project unfold for awhile now and although I'm not entirely sure where it's headed or if it's complete - ie, is the plan to recreate the full piece in yarn? - there is enough completed that I'd like to share.

You buy yarn for a project, and when the project is complete, you're left with just a small amount of yarn. It's not enough for another project, but it's still good, so you don't want to throw it away.

The mandala has spiritual significance for a lot of people but it doesn't have to be specifically a spiritual thing. It can be a visually pleasing and meditatively relaxing geometric design. Crochet mandalas appeal to me.
