*🌎 Read This Post In: English | Español 🇪🇸 | Português 🇧🇷 * I've rounded up 10 ideas for virtual activities to spice up your Zoom calls with more unity + fun. **ALL DOWNLOADS THAT I HAVE PROMISED ARE LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST FOR YOUR EASE!** 😎 #10. TOILET PAPER TOSS You need: One roll of toilet paper per person Zoom specifics: This best works on a desktop Zoom call so you can see everyone, screen record Everyone needs a roll of toilet paper, and the goal of the game is to create a (screen recording) video of each young women "passing the roll" to each other between their video frames. It's a funny way to laugh and learn teamwork amidst this unique situation. I originally got this idea and the next from another blog. Be sure to check out the amazing Laurie's post here, it has more fun Zoom game ideas!! 💜 #9. QUARANTINED WOULD YOU RATHER You need: Quarantined Would You Rather Cards (link at bottom of the post) Zoom specifics: Designate one person to read aloud the would you rather questions. Paste them into the chat on Zoom. A whole new theme for "would you rather" questions! Get everyone thinking, laughing, + pondering impossible scenarios as you play. The questions I’ve come up with span from crushes to Netflix to TikTok + everything in between. It will help you get insights in your young womens' quarantines. You Might Also Like: 3 Ways to Minister Virtually Amidst This Pandemic #8. WHODUNIT Zoom specifics: Use the chat feature Have everyone think of the most interesting, crazy, hilarious, shocking or unique thing that they did over quarantine and send it to one of the leaders. In Zoom is you can control who you chat with + send private messages. DON'T send the messages to everyone...it defeats the purpose of the game. To send a private message, click on the arrow below "everyone" and select the leader that everyone has designated to receive the message. Now that the leader has everyone's items (and knows the answers) the game is to read aloud the statements and hear the young womens' guesses on which young women did which activity. *this is where the churchy ideas begin* #7. SCRIPTIONARY You need: (Scripture pictionary) cards (link at bottom of post) Zoom specifics: Use the whiteboard feature (desktop: click ... and then "annotate," on mobile, click the pencil icon to start drawing) Using the scriptionary cards and the Zoom whiteboard, see--and guess--what everyone is drawing. I've made four sets of Pictionary so that you have plenty of cards for each Young Women to try her hand at this super fun game. We had a lot of fun + laughs playing this. Tip: If people keep saying "aaaah I said the right answer but you didn't acknowledge it!" you can also use the chat to share guesses so that they are set in stone and people aren’t like "Wha-but-" every five seconds. It worked for us! #6. FOR THE STRENGTH OF YOUTH CHARADES You need: For The Strength of Youth manual Zoom specifics: Use the chat feature The "host" has a copy of the FSY manual by their side and texts young women one of the categories of FSY privately via the chat feature when it is their turn and their charade. Once the young woman gets what they do for their charade, they mute themselves and act out how to follow the standard until the group can guess what standard is going on! This one is simple, but so fun. I have seriously died from laughing while playing this one. You May Also Like: Free 2021 YW Bookmarks #5. DOCTRINAL MASTERY MAD GAB You need: DM Mad Gab Cards (link at the bottom of the post) Zoom specifics: Use the chat feature, a screenshare of the Mad Gab file works as well 😂I was laughing out loud as I typed these Mad Gab cards up. If you don't know what Mad Gab is, you are given a string of total gibberish, and you have to decipher what the true meaning is. I've only included 12 because these are tricky! But not too tricky for those not in seminary yet. Your middle school young women have probably heard of the verses, and if not, you don't have to worry about them not getting the game. It's a team effort + everyone is on the same playing field for the fun. #4. GENERAL CONFERENCE RACE Zoom specifics: Be sure to have everyone knows how to mute themselves and turn off their camera! It's part of the game, I promise! Hahaha. The most cliche question ever is "what was your favorite conference talk?" There is nothing wrong with going over general conference but putting a fun twist on conference review really makes it so much more fun! This is a cute virtual (and doctrinal ofc) version of the game "I wanna go home." If you haven't heard of it, it's a race to "leave" a circle, but no one can say "I wanna go home" at the same time. I thought that adapting this to general conference could be so cute! Everyone makes sure to have their microphone on, and the game begins. It's optional to turn off your camera, but this makes the game harder and more fun. The task: all the young women have to say their favorite General Conference speaker from this last session and then go mute. The twist: no one can talk at the same time. If two people start talking at the same time, the whole game restarts! That's where the camera comes in. You could try two levels -- one with camera on, the other with it off to ramp up the difficulty. When you can see others, you can see that look on their face like they have smth to say, but with cameras off, it's a whole new level! 😂 This activity is challenging, suspenseful, but most of all, a way to sneak in a lil gospel while having fun with a game. #3. VIRTUAL HEART ATTACK You need: to get all your young women in on this!! Zoom specifics: Zoom not necessary, but you could do a recap call This is the cutest thing!! First, pick your target. Next, tell the yw abt the idea. Each young woman decorates just one giant heart (poster or piece of paper) with a message of 💖. For the "heart attack" part, you can go several routes. My original idea was to have everyone plan to have their heart picture loaded and ready and text it to the recipient all at the exact same time! Mwahahaha. But if you think that would be overstimulating or just end up being annoying to the recipient, put together all the pictures in a slideshow, and text it to them. It could also be fun if you invited them to a Zoom call and then surprised them in the middle of it with the slideshow. You could *also* surprise them in the middle of a Zoom call with the Young Women pulling out their actual paper hearts. Lots of fun ways to do this!! #2. BOOK OF MORMON BAKE-OFF You need: Book of Mormon Baking Bracket (see below) Zoom specifics: You don't need to use Zoom for most of this activity. You could do a recap call about it though! This is quarantine baking on a whole new level! The object of the game is to create a book of mormon themed treat. Extra brownie points if it's based on the Come Follow Me for the week! Each young woman gets a picture taken of them with their Book of Mormon treat, and you round them up and send out the brackets for the young women to vote on their favorites!! Eventually, a winning baker is crowned. Such a cute idea. I was going to make a cute baking bracket printable for y'all, but I realized that wards have so many different young women and needs that I couldn't make a one-size fits all bracket. So I found something better! Make your ward a baking bracket with the perfect number of "teams" participating and their names by heading over here. It takes about 5 seconds to make and will be perfectly customized for your ward! If you or your yw need inspo on Book of Mormon themed treats, check out this, this, this, and this from Pinterest. Just to get the creative wheels turning. #1. WHAT'S YOUR TYPE (PERSONALITY PARTAY!) I've modified one of the most fun activities that our group has done to be virtual/Zoom friendly. It's called.... "What's Your Type?" It is ALL about unity, belonging, and connection -- isn't that exactly what we need right now? To help make this virtual activity go smoothly, you get a 40 PAGE slideshow to use over Zoom. It completely guides you + your yw through the activity! In the slideshow, there are THREE fun games that all operate around the theme of unity and a devotional at the end to tie everything all together. Ready to have this fun activity with your group? Click here! 👉**GAME HELPS LINK**👈 I made this a Google Doc so you can copy + paste the "virtual cards" onto the Zoom chat feature, edit any of it to suit your needs and quickly translate it into your language (tutorials in the doc). It's in English here, Spanish here, and Portuguese here. I hope it's helpful! Coming from a young woman herself, opening exercises can be pretty stressful. When you ask someone to say a prayer, and they're just like, "no," like it's a huge thing you're asking of them and that doing so would cost them their lives, it kind of ticks me off a bit. But as everyone learns, grows, and matures, things can go more smoothly. Here are five tips for making your opening exercises go better. 1. Use this conducting outline. Make sure there are always plenty of copies in the Young Womens room, and printing them out on colored paper might spice them up a little bit. 2. Be a good example. Whenever you maybe asked do to something, respond with an enthusiastic 'yes.' 3. Make sure everyone has a chance to conduct. Say one day Mary is conducting. She asks EVERY ONE (of the young women, the leaders are lovely, of course) and they (including Sally) all respond with a clipped 'no.' (And yes, the tone in which they say it makes it way more annoying.) Next week, Sally has to conduct and has the same dilemma. She'll be more likely to accept next time, now that she knows how it feels to be conducting. 4. Tell the young women about this problem! Here are some tips to explain to them during a mini lesson about the topic, taken from lds.org: Arrive early and make sure everything is ready for the meeting. When possible, make assignments ahead of time, including opening and closing prayers. Conduct with reverence as guided by the Spirit. Leaders always teach by example. Use a written agenda that outlines events to take place in the meeting. The person conducting announces who will pray, speak, lead the music, and do other things. Choose music that invites the Spirit. See that the music director and accompanist are prepared. Where appropriate, arrange for prelude music to be played before the meeting starts. Be efficient and aware of time limits. And if ALL else fails... 5. Make a prayer wheel for Young Womens. (Make a circle with all of the young womens' names. Make an identical circle with a cutout the same size as each name. Secure with a pushpin and spin. If you're feeling extra, you could make an extra cool spinner like in carnivals.) Bonus: Please, don't do the "pray so you get a hot husband" thing (especially when the bishop is visiting.) Good luck! Molly Mormon

Young Women Value Bracelets, Perfect gift for the New Beehives: New Beginnings, This post contains affiliate links. See the full disclosure. Up until a few months ago, my calling was to serve with the Beehives in our ward! What an amazing calling!! I loved going to meet with them as they were turning twelve and see their excitement. I loved sitting in class and listening to their amazing testimonies and insights! New Beginnings is such a fun activity, to welcome in those new Beehives and to focus on the Young Women program! Each year we do a questionnaire, where we ask the New Beehives some questions (see free download below). We also like to give them a little gift. Last year, I made these value bracelets for them, they were so easy and fit out budget! Supplies needed: Clear Stretch Cord .8mm thick Gold Glass E-Beads Little Value Color Beads All of these supplies I purchased at Walmart. I actually put this one together and it ended up too big, so you will need to play with it, depending on what beads you get, to figure out the perfect size. For the beads I used, the perfect combination was three of the gold beads, then one of the value color beads. I did it in the order of the value colors: White (Faith), Red (Divine Nature), Blue (Individual Worth), Green (Knowledge), Orange (Choice and Accountability), Yellow (Good Works), Purple (Integrity), Gold (Virtue)- These ones are the three glass e-beads. To give it the Young Women, I print out these cards with the Young Women Theme and tied the bracelets on with some string. We placed them into plastic bags. I can't believe I didn't get a picture!! The girls loved them! I also, thought I'd share a little bonus of what our New Beginnings looked like... The Large Picture of Christ and Temple Pictures are both engineering prints, that we actually reused from another activity. Flowers we borrowed from a wedding. Streamers were supper easy, just crepe paper! I used a picture off of lds.org, turned it black and white and printed them, we bought frames from the dollar store. These made for beautiful decorations, but also were our gifts to each of our Young Women. If you would like more New Beginnings ideas, check out these posts: Also check out these ideas from Red Headed Hostess for the Youth Theme 2019!! Thanks so much for stopping by, if you'd like more ideas make sure you follow us on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

I've been Secretary of our young women (girls ages 12-18) group in my ward for a year now! Time flies! In my year I've gained new skills of learning how to balance my time, schedule, write things down, and be more organized. It's been a huge blessing in my life, cause I had very few of these things before I was called. When I was first called I immediately searched Pinterest to get ideas of what in the world a secretary does! Well there isn't very much going on in the secretary Pinterest game. So I've decided to share some things I've created that have helped to up my secretary game. These are all blank agendas, obvs, that you can print and fill out. Over the past few months I've been asked to teach etiquette to young men and young women 2 different times. This has been a fun experience to reflect and write down what I know and do a little research. I'm thankful my parents and grandparents were strict with good manners when I was young. I didn't appreciate it at the time, but now that I'm older and teaching my children I can see the benefit of learning good manners. Good manners don't happen over night. It takes years of training. YM & YW need to know the basics! Most basics are not taught or enforced at home. Teach and educate them NOW and set them up for a "polite" future. These are my typed up notes of what I went over and demonstrated. We had a 4 course meal at one activity with both YM & YW and a "tea party" at another with just the YW. The 4 course meal included Soup Salad Entree Dessert The Tea Party Cookies Mini Cupcakes Small sandwiches Crackers and dip Hot Chocolate Hot Tang/Juice _________________________________ INTRO - Why do we need good manners? Why do we need good manners? Are we not all children of a King? We are all princes and princesses and are expected to behave as such. We need to act with the utmost decorum for dates, meeting future in-laws, business dinners, dances and more. Presenting yourself properly, and behaving in a dignified manner is what being royal is all about. First impressions last a lifetime whether it's over a meal or in public. Sitting in a chair Sit up straight - DON'T SLOUCH (it's not attractive) (Demonstrate how silly a forward and backward slouch looks) When sitting ESPECIALLY in a dress or skirt, KNEES SHOULD BE TOUCHING! (Your underwear may be cute, but we really don't want to see it!) Table Etiquette - Serving and being served When setting the table, knife blades should always be facing the plate. Present an average table setting or have the youth set their own place and tell them what is right and what is wrong. (2 forks, 2 spoons, 1 knife, napkin, dinner plate, salad plate, bread plate, water glass) When going to a fancier restaurant and seeing lots of silverware - just remember WORK YOUR WAY FROM THE OUTSIDE IN. Serve from the LEFT REMOVE from the RIGHT Pass food in a counterclockwise motion or to the RIGHT "It is always the RIGHT way when passing food" DO NOT BEGIN EATING UNTIL EVERYONE IS SERVED! Hold your utensil properly. (Do not act as if you are shoveling the food into your mouth.) When finished with your plate, do not push it away or place your napkin on top. Act as if your plate was the face of a clock, you would place both handles of your utensils on the number 4. If you have to yawn....COVER YOUR MOUTH! Nothing is attractive about a HUGE gaping mouth open wide for all to see! COVER YOUR MOUTH! *Say you're on a first or important date, you may want to keep in mind, some foods are messier to eat than others. What would you rather? A clean face with something you can use utensils? Or something that is messy or you have to eat with your hands? First impressions last a lifetime. Top 10 Basic Table Manners 1. Chew with your mouth closed 2. Avoid slurping, smacking, blowing your nose or other gross noises. (If necessary, excuse yourself to take care of whatever it is you need to take care of.) 3. Hold your utensil properly, don't stab or shovel your food. 4. Don't pick your teeth at the table. 5. Remember to use your napkin at all times. 6. Wait until you're done chewing to sip or swallow a drink. (No floaties allowed!) (The exception is if you're choking - please drink if you're choking) 7. Cut no more than 3 pieces of food at a time. (The most logical answer of why, is so your food doesn't get cold!) 8. Avoid slouching and placing your elbows on the table while eating. (Although it is okay to prop your elbows on the table while conversing between courses) 9. Instead of reaching across the table for something, ask for it to be passed to you. 10. Always say 'excuse me' whenever you leave the table. _________________________ Having good manners in LIFE! BE RESPECTFUL TO EVERYONE We always need to respect the golden rule. "Treat others the way you want to be treated." Young, Old, Male & Female. Rumors and gossip is sadly part of life. But... it is YOUR CHOICE whether you want to participate in the continuous spreading of those rumors. How would you feel if those rumors were about you? Respecting others and seeing those around your with God's eyes will change your perspective and bring you joy. Make sure all of your interactions with those around you reflect positive feedback- not negative. Everyone around you are always watching. You may not realize how much you are under the microscope. Would your parents be pleased with your actions? Would your bad habits and manners affect your future children? Most importantly, how would your Father in Heaven think of your words and actions? "It's never RIGHT to do WRONG" "It's never WRONG to do RIGHT" The perfect example of how you should act and behave was our Savior Jesus Christ. Ask yourself in ANY situation, "What would Jesus do?" Smile and BE HAPPY! Everyone gravitates towards happiness. Be a MAGNET! Shine your smile and have a happy disposition. No one wants to be around others who always find bad in the world. Gratitude is the true base of happiness. PUNCTUALITY! Being punctual or "on time" is polite. Tardiness or always running late is rude. It shows your lack of preparation. Plan and prepare ahead of time. How long is the drive to the destination? How long does it take to get ready? (Always take into consideration that it takes at least 2-3 minutes to put on your shoes and get in the car before you actually start to drive.) Girls, be ready for your date when they have specified. It is extremely akward for a date to wait over 5 minutes for you. Boys, always be on time. There is nothing worse than waiting on your date to arrive. (I would know- my date showed up 1 hour late for HOMECOMING! I WAS TICKED! Not a good way to start the evening) PHONES Cell phones are an amazing tool. They keep us connected to those around us. But phones are a HUGE distraction. You may physically be in an area, but when scrolling through facebook or pinterest keeps you mentally from the conversation and the space you are literally in. Phone usage needs to be practically eliminated during dates, dinners and family activities. You can't gain the experiences everyone posts on facebook if you're always on the phone and never out making them. APPAREL You may not realize that you appearance can come across as polite or rude. Be confident and comfortable in your apparel but, don't wear things that are too tight, baggy, or show too much skin. There is a proper way to dress. And showing off your body or not even getting ready are not polite. Wearing pajamas, yoga pants, sweat pants, basketball shorts etc. are a sign of laziness and lack of preparation. Wake up 1 minute earlier and throw on some JEANS for goodness sakes! Don't be looked upon as lazy or unkept. Manners at the table and manners in life will keep you polite and positive. Remember- Practice makes Perfect _______________________________________ This was a VERY fun activity and I think a good reminder to youth and adults to always have good manners in life and at the table. When practiced and used regularly, good etiquette lasts a lifetime.

I felt really inspired this week to make these goal sheets for my YW. The children and youth program has been a little harder to track and aid girls than 'personal progress' and go over. I thought though with the school year starting could be a great timing to refocus and make goals. I plan on mailing these to the girls with a back to school treat and then we will go over them for a zoom activity and watch a little inspirational clip I love: "Advice from Elder Busche" Download HERE SOCIAL DOWNLOAD
