This full-page 2-sided large illustration featuring the letters “y” and “z”, is from the 1978 First Edition book “Erté Graphics” (Dover Publications) which provides a fascinating sample of Erté’s very best graphic work from one of his most popular collections “The Alphabet” (1977). It represents Erté’s finest qualities – elegance, wit, meticulous finish, and a distinctive sense of fantasy. These colourful prints are on semi-glossy paper and measure 8¼in x 11” (21cm x 28cm) with white borders – ready to frame. They make a unique gift for fashion design or art deco lovers or someone whose name corresponds with the letters. Note – the watermark does not appear on the original print you receive. Russian-born, Paris-bred artist Erté (Romain de Tirtoff – 1892-1990) is recognised as one of the foremost fashion and theatrical designers of the 20th century. From 1916 to 1937 he was under contract to the American fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar. His highly stylised illustrations depicted models in mannered poses draped in luxurious jewels, feathers, and soft, flowing materials against a background of interiors in the Art Deco style. In 1968 when he produced his first lithographs, art lovers discovered that he had found another medium suited to his extraordinary talents. He was an artist and designer in an array of fields, including fashion, jewellery, graphic arts, costume and set design for film, theatre, and opera, and interior decor. All our prints are shipped in protective plastic sleeves and in flat cardboard envelopes to ensure they arrive safely. We will ship ANY number of prints in one package - you pay one shipping fee only!

Art Nouveau was a movement in the visual arts popular from the early 1890s up to the First World War. It is viewed by some as the first self-conscious attempt to create a modern style. Its influence can be found in painting, sculpture, jewellery, metalwork, glass and ceramics. The drawings of Aubrey Beardsley, the architecture of Victor Horta and Paul Hankar and the poster designs of Alphonse Mucha are some of the most familiar examples of the Art Nouveau style.
