Description Micron Pen / Pencil 2013 --- I always loved the older Beaux-Arts style details of columns and various architectural elements, and I always wondered if I had the skill to create one. Naturally, I couldn't just do a Greco-Roman column, so I decided to finally do something with one of my favorite lesser-known architectural gems, the Indian Stepwells, in particular the Adalaj Stepwell. This column is pieced together as an ideal form based on the designs of multiple columns from the site... I might go back and do another one sometime... if I have the patience for it. This thing took me the better part of two weeks to draw out on a 9"x12" piece of bristol, four pencil lead types from 5H to HB, a .005 width micron pen, and a single straight-edge ruler (no parallel rules, triangles or compasses here, thank you very much!). I don't think my wrist will ever forgive me for the amount of precision and strain I put it under to make this piece. Next up... a classic NYC brownstone house!
