11/15/18: Claes Oldenburg sculpture of a clothes pin
Dropped Cone Sculpture in Cologne, Germany The Dropped Cone in Cologne, Germany, is a delightful piece of public art that defies expectations. Artists: The sculpture was created by the American pop artist Claes Oldenburg and his frequent collaborator, Coosje van Bruggen. Inspiration: Imagine an oversized ice cream cone dropped from the sky! The Dropped Cone draws inspiration from the advertising signs of nearby ice cream parlors. It playfully comments on the transient nature of consumption. Location: Since 2001, this upside-down ice cream cone has graced the roof of the Neumarkt shopping gallery. Look up, and you’ll spot it against the city skyline, blending humorously with the straight church towers.
