70年前の写真と、70年後に同じ位置から撮影した写真を、1枚に重ねてアニメーションにした。
4月半ばに入り、ようやくワシントンDC周辺も暖かくなり、桜も先週末から満開となりました。米国で桜を見るのもよいものですが、やはり日本の桜が懐かしく、恋しいと思いました。そんな気持ちもあって、今回は、米国公文書館にあります、戦後占領期の日本の風景や人々の様子をカラーで撮影した写真をご紹介したいと思います。これらのカラーの写真はすべてRG111 (Records of the Office of the Chief Signal Officer: 陸軍通信局長室資料)の中にあるもので、日本の様々な地域の風景、人々の暮らし、産業の様子などを含んでいます。
I see that there is a new,modern Dai-Ichi hotel in Shimbashi. In all the other photos on Flickr, I did not notice any jeeps or Weapons Carriers parked in front of it. LOL! This was quite a modern-looking place for 1946-it would not look dated even today.
