Portrait When we arrived at Liao familys organic farm, we immediately felt immersed in a vibrant and bright atmosphere. It was the day of their summer season harvest. The day after we could document the manufacturing process in their own on-site tea factory. Remaining a small family business ensures highest quality standards and control over the final product in terms of flavor. The relatively new Shan-Yun cultivar (no. 24) is the source for this black tea. It originates from the Yongkang-Shan tea plant (camellia sinensis f. formosana) which is native to Taitung in Taiwan. Liao family's grandparents started cultivating this tea long before the TRES (Tea Research and Extension Station) began their work on this species 20 years ago. This black tea is a great mirror of how we got to know Liao family: kind, soft, warmhearted, natural and humble.
