Blue amber is a rare variety of amber resin that exhibits a blue coloration. Blue amber has been found only in the Dominican Republic—especially in the amber mines around the city of Santiago and, less commonly, in the eastern half of the country. In the modern age, it was discovered at about the same time as Dominican amber. It is beautiful and UV reactive as you can see in the pictures. Using a black light UV flashlight you can see the blue of the amber. In normal lighting it is a very dark blue, and some are very transparent, and look amazing using a normal flashlight to see the insides. Some ambers have bugs in them. Amber is 12 million year old petrified tree sap and it us just very unique in its own way. This would be a great gift for friends and loved ones!
