About The Artwork . This painting begins with a photograph taken while in Italy. I paint in acrylic from the photo in a realistic manner so the canvas resembles the photograph taken. Then the fun begins! I paint over the image with oil paint, leaving bits of the original image peeking through. This adds a certain dimension to the piece. I keep the colors I see in the Italian surroundings but the painting becomes an abstract work of art. Many of my paintings take months to create due to the many layers of thick paint.
