We don't use any chemical materials such as insecticides, toxic solvents and flame retardants. We sterilize our cotton by heat. Q. How does futon smell like? A. We can't say it smells nothing. It subtly smells of the oil of cotton. It's difficult to describe what it is like. It'll be removed eventually in a couple of weeks. Futon mattress (shiki futon) lasts for 3 years and futon quilt (kake futon) lasts for 5 years in general. They eventually lose the softness by being pressed by body.
