I hesitate to use terms Like "Holy Grail" and indeed have so far never used them. This jacket is for some the Holy Grail of Motorcycle Jackets. It is a 1960's or early 70's Easy Rider Vintage Black Leather Cafe Racer Motorcycle jacket. It has Red, White and Blue Racing Stripes down the front and around one arm. It is a Mans Medium sized at 40R. armpit to armpit about -22 1/2" shoulder to shoulder- 18" shoulder to end of cuff -24" length from top of collar to bottom hem (backside) -26 3/4" In Very Good Vintage Shape pliable thick leather with various signs of usage and some needle holes on the arm where there was a patch. Please look at the photographs as part of the description. Please look at the exact measurements at the bottom of the description. Now in my mind there have only been 3 iconic Leather Jackets for me in film History. First Marlin Brando's Black Schott from "The Wild One" which has never gone out of production. There is Indiana Jones brown jacket from "The Temple Of Doom" widely and accurately reproduced and easily available. Then there is the "Easy Rider" Captain America/Wyatt Jacket Peter Fonda wore. While there are a multitude of reproductions none are close to accurate and most poorly made. The original "Easy Rider" jacket worn by Peter Fonda was designed and manufactured by Clarice Amberg of ABC Leathers in South Gate, California. There was just one ordered that Fonda kept for himself and wore till it was unwearable. He kept the flag on the back until it was auctioned off at a charity event. The original had no lining and has a much longer length than your modern Cafe Racer. So what is out there-well first everything to begin with has much broader and brighter Racing Strips than the original making it kind of comical. The two company's making expensive high end reproductions are Schott and Vance Leather. Both well made and again the broad, bright racing stripes. They are both cut like a standard modern Cafe Racer much shorter with more zippers and pretty heavy lining. So is there no better version of the Easy Rider Jacket anywhere in the world. Yes-there is one. It was made by the British Company TT Leathers in the style of Peter Fonda's jacket in the iconic Easy Rider movie. The Brits were good at getting on top of and turning out reproduction of fashion as there was a large market spending their paychecks every week on Carnaby Street or Kings Road. Although it is over 40 years old, it remains in wonderful vintage condition with only the odd scuff here and there (please see pictures). All zippers and fastenings work as they should except on of the cuffs has a broken tooth shown in the photos. and the leather remains soft and pliable for a jacket with real rider weight. Lining is is thin keeping in tune with the originals lack of a lining but now you have a inside pocket. With no rips or holes I can find the leather has ben condition and is in no danger of cracking. Really all that need to done is have the jacket worn which will conform it to your body shape. It feels real nice now and with maybe a last layer of conditioner all you need to do is live in it a day or so. The stripes are beautiful The proper width with muted colors. The white is more of a cream and is part of the structure of the jacket with the Red and Blue Stripes rolled at the edges and securely sewn on. The back is a large single piece of leather, something you would be hard pressed to find these days. However there is no Flag is sewn on the back as in the film. That would be up to you to add-the original was a regular cloth flag with a backing. It has no labels but it is very clear that it is a " TT Leathers Easy Rider Jacket" as there are simply no others like it. There are just 2 zipper pockets on one side and none on the other. It has the accurate additional length of the original. For the movie there was only one made. However right after the film hit TT Leathers made these with great quality and detail. There are no others Please look at the measurements Measurements; This jacket is ready for it's next adventure and looks as though it has lots of life left in it! Feel free to email with any questions or for additional photos as there are no returns Thank you.
