This is an approximately 8" x 10" linoleum block print. Oil based deep black ink on hand-torn awagami kita kata 36gsm natural paper, it has a subtly cream tone. All of my prints are carved and hand printed in small editions by me. Natural variations in texture occur as part of the printing process, making each print unique. There is only one print left in this edition - the photos show the exact print you will receive. I created this design through some intuitive doodling of swirly bull kelp, our local forest-forming kelp species in the Salish Sea. I slowly added other elements that I love about this bioregion - water, mountains, fish and birds, and the sun and moon that drive our amazing tidal cycles. Like most of my art, it is about love of place. Hope you like it too!
