Sari ribbon is made from the remnants of sari silk dresses. It is a byproduct that in the past was thrown away, but is now made into this beautiful and sought after ribbon. It comes from India and Nepal and is a free trade business. Sari silk comes in different withes and is dyed in a rainbow of colors. The ribbon is stitched or tied end to end to make a continues strand. Sari silk yardage can be used in craft, knitting, or sewing projects. The ribbon made from sari silk is not a perfectly uniform ribbon, sometimes there might be a tear or small spot. If I notice a thin section of ribbon as I am rolling it out, I measure extra to compensate for it.
