Room Portrait Week 131 - Watercolor Interior Illustration of a great reading room with floor to ceiling bookshelves, a comfy teal sofa and a brilliant marigold stoneware pitcher full of greenery . . . One artistic goal for 2024 was to regularly participate in SJ Axelby's "Room Portrait Challenge" prompts on instagram . . . under that account she posts a fantastic range of creative and colorful images of rooms in homes around the world, challenging artists around the world to draw, paint, and illustrate according to their inspiration of the moment. This new shop collection of watercolor paintings is largely based on those #roomportraitchallenge prompts. About the collection: These detailed interior room illustrations are 8" x 11.5" original watercolors worked out on pages from my Fabriano notebooks. . . . They're bold, colorful, and loaded with paint! I'm drawn to room interiors filled with books, great wall art (even though I often paint in alternate artwork from museums around the world), and especially vases filled with florals and foliage (which usually become a much larger presence in the room in the process of sketching!) Size: 8" x 11.5" on cream white 24 lb. Fabriano notebook paper (you might see the tiny graph squares covering each page to keep your note-taking lines neat and straight!) One of a kind original watercolor painting - signed and dated by the artist (February 2, 2024) I used a combination of watercolor, acrylic paints, chalk, and color pencil on plain notebook paper for this series of informal abstract paintings. Each paint sketch is finished with a clear archival spray varnish in a matte finish, which sets and protects the layers of color. I generally paint to the edge or as close as possible to it - and the multiple layers of paint can cause a slight wrinkled texture to the paper as it dries - this is all part of the plan to create high-energy low cost flower "sketches" with lots of color and texture! As an original watercolor on paper, the materials used are fragile and if not handled with great care, can be damaged or torn. Please note: This original painting is sold UNFRAMED. I highly recommend Studio Decor 11x14" float frames (available in most craft stores and frame shops) for an easy and low-cost way to display your sketchbook paintings. They do not require mounting or matting but provide an inexpensive way to safely display the sketchbook watercolors in all their colorful crinkly glory! ----->> PLEASE READ prior to ordering: CHANGES TO/CANCELLING YOUR ORDER: Select your print size carefully and make sure your shipping address is correct.
