Creative & Critical Thinking with Hink Pinks ~ Great for Differentiation! CCSS aligned. WHAT IS A HINK PINK? A Hink Pink is a fun two-part word puzzle to solve. It's a clue with a rhyming pair of synonyms that solve the clue. For example: Not cold place to sleep = hot cot Once your students learn how to solve them, they will have so much fun with this challenging vocabulary-building activity. Hink Pinks are great for building creative thinking skills; I use Hink Pinks in my Gifted Education curriculum with my gifted and talented students! Hink Pinks are a challenging way of incorporating synonyms in an engaging way, instead of simply listing them. Hink Pinks give students a puzzle to solve. If your students are like mine, they love solving puzzles! Take advantage of that and sharpen their skills in the process! ⭐ It won’t be long before your students are creating their own Hink Pinks. That’s where the magic happens! ⭐ This packet is ready-to-go! You’ll find the activities are intended to be progressively more difficult. You’ll start simply solving Hink Pinks then move on to fun ways of creating your own! Allow your students to use online dictionary, thesauri, and rhyming tools. They will love it! My students immediately head to our classroom library to grab resources as soon as I say, "Hink Pink." This is definitely an engaging addition to your station rotations once your students become more skilled! You can even create your own to go along with the curriculum you’re teaching or the approaching season! My family and I even love creating Hink Pinks at restaurants while awaiting our dinner! Once you try this, you will be hooked too! Can you use it as differentiation for your RTI groups? I'd love to hear how you use it in your classroom.
