Woodcut print illustration of a line from "Community of the Spirit," a poem written by the 13th-century Persian poet Rumi: "Open your hands if you want to be held." As a former martial artist I kept some of the wooden boards I broke during promotion tests and used one of the pieces as the woodblock for this print. Like this artwork, taekwondo was a very personal experience for me, in which I learned to give and receive support. Image itself is about 6"x 10" with about 1-2 inch margin of paper around.
