Here’s why: Calathea are picky about their water. If they go too dry, they’ll get crispy… too damp… root rot (along with other annoying pests like fungus gnats). If we remove the soil altogether and grow in water, they’ll grow special water roots and be able to absorb all of the water they need when they need it. They’re also picky with the type of water they’re watered with. I try to only use distilled water for my hydroponic calathea. Hard water can be a culprit of the crispy edges on these plants specifically. Using distilled water is gentle and grows perfect non-crispy leaves ☺️ Make sure to fertilize (I u
