Margo Selski creates lush oil paintings that are filled with wild theatrics and rich symbolism. Her’s is an unmistakable exploration of realism and the classical oil painting tradition. When looking at her paintings the viewer may feel as if they have gone down a rabbit hole, as many works contain visual references to the familiar story of Alice in Wonderland. Selski’s heavily narrative compositions include the strange and bizarre which adds a contemporary spin to the parody of old masterpieces. In her work, The Doe Marriage, Selski paints her own rendition of the very famous painting by Renaissance painter Jan van Eyck entitled Giovanni Arnolfini and His Bride, 1434. See more after the jump!
