VG. A few minor scuffs and light wear along joints and edges. The bindings are strong; the boards are all firmly attached. The text blocks are clean and tight. There are bookplates on the front pastedowns of each volume, otherwise no writing or markings of any kind. The texts are pristine throughout the set, which appears unread and scarcely opened. The first major edition of Shelley's works, considered the canonizing event in establishing Shelley's reputation, edited with prefaces and notes by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley. The first edition of 1839, beautifully bound by Zaehnsdorf for Bartlett & Co., Boston in the early twentieth century. Ships wrapped in bubble wrap and packed securely in a box.
