ALBERT RACINET (1825 - 1893) Illustratror, lithographer, painter and author. Trained by his father and at the Ecole du Dessin de Paris, he worked as an engraver and an artistic director at Firmin-Didot et Compagnie's Edition, from 1869 to 1888. His 2 major works are L'Ornement Polychrome and The Historical Costume. The colors are as new, very sharp, the sketching very fine. It is both a well made lithograph and a gorgeous decorative subject. On some plates of this great collection small slight traces are possible. Those rare defects are generally on the edge and don't exceed a few millimeters : easily hidden behind a passe-partout. (We have choosen not to recut the plates). Pretty thick paper, originally lightly sepia. The photo is watermarked, but the original is not. The reverse side is blank.
