"Against Forgetting" is a fine art print of an original piece by Nina Montenegro. A wax rubbing of a tree stump is adjacent to an inked fingerprint. This piece has been featured in Orion Magazine, Camas Magazine, and High Country News. Artist Statement: I encountered an enormous stump on Orcas Island (likely a Doug Fir) and tenderly took a rubbing with wax crayon. I had always marveled at the similarity between the rings of a tree and the rings of our human fingerprints, but I was shocked to see the rings actually align when I took an inked fingerprint and enlarged it to the scale of the tree rings. What resulted was a harmonious depiction of humanity's kinship (and belonging) with nature. Dimensions are 10" x 10", 14" x 14", or 20" x 20". Open edition, titled and signed. Printed digitally on archival paper with matte finish. Background is printed color, not the paper color. Unframed print. --------------------------------------- 10"x10" and 14”x 14" will ship in a protective, sturdy flat. 20" x 20" will be shipped in a big, sturdy tube.
