I am currently working on several pieces which take inspiration from barnacles and the manner in which they colonise and alter surfaces. As miniature living vessels themselves, barnacles cling to objects, regardless of their once intended function. It is those items which are essentially rubbish, discarded or lost to sea and reclaimed by nature that fascinate me. The original, intended use of the form becomes irrelevant as it succumbs to forces of nature. Through this, I am playing with the traditional potter's forms, such as bottles and bowls and altering shapes and surface, taking inspiration from natural processes.
