(Part One) So two weekends ago, we drove up to Granville to visit a barn sale that had been advertised as one of those "SAVE ME FROM MY CRAP EVERY SINGLE THING IS FOR SALE MUST EMPTY THE BARN!" deals. Who could pass that up? Not us! So we get there, and of course I go upstairs and of course find oodles and oodles of sewing things. My instincts (Hubby calls it "radar") kicked in, and I began digging, digging...and sure enough, I not only found several 40s and 50s patterns, they were in my size! Yay! Continuing my barn loft recon, I found several vintage sewing machines, mostly Singers (which are fine). I've wanted to pick up a vintage machine because they're so well-built and, treated well, they run forever and ever. Plus, let's face it, some of them are really cool-looking. Like this one. It was tucked beneath a little table, still in its case. Draped in cobwebs and shrouded in roughly two decades of dust, it was so heavy dragging it from beneath the table nearly caused me to fall over. But the effort (and cobweb/dust heebie-jeebies) was worth it; I popped the lid off and there she was. This gorgeous White sewing machine!
