We've been working through these sorts to distinguish between short and long vowels. We use a large piece of manila paper to create their own t-chart. Students begin by making a hamburger fold. Then they fold the top down like a puppet. They open up the paper to see the invisible lines that the folds made in the paper. They use a dark colored crayon to draw their own straight lines on the chart. They label the top of the chart with the titles at the top of the paper that I give them with pictures. Click the pictures to grab my set of vowel sorts.
