My most highly awarded orchid. Fascinating even out of bloom but then how can it not be considering it grows upside down? To view the flowers, once must turn the leaves right-side-up as they are hidden inside. It is native to Brazil, in the mountainous regions around Rio de Janeiro. I grow it intermediately with temperatures dipping into the upper 40s during the coldest winter nights and mid 80s in the summer. For me it is an easy grower although it can be challenging to keep the leaves blemish-free which I understand higher humidity is the likely culprit.
