Knit in fingering weight yarn, the Falling Water Shawl pattern features an elegant, easy lace stitch and lots of soothing garter stitch. The shawl begins with a cast-on of just three stitches and gradually grows longer, with a column of lace flowing up the right side and garter stitch on the left. Yarn overs worked on the left side create the shawl’s triangular shape. It ends with a simple knit-purl section that can be worked over any number of stitches — which means you can make the shawl as long (or short) as you’d like. The shawl is knit flat, but a circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches. Stitch patterns are provided in charts and also are written out, line by line.
