Giardiasis, or beaver fever, is a parasitic infection of the gut that leads to abdominal discomfort and watery diarrhea. People often catch it when travelling or camping. Treatment is with antibiotics. Good hand-washing practices and avoiding contaminated water can help prevent infection.
