Project Bounce off the Walls (Features: Kitchen, Ensuite, Powder Room) This young family was considering selling their home and moving, but instead they asked for our help to rework the problematic areas and create a practical and beautiful space. We drew up the architectural plans, selected the finish materials and consulted throughout the construction phase, where we knocked down some walls and built some new ones! It’s safe to say this family was “bouncing off the walls” with excitement when this revamp was completed! Kitchen The requirements here were straight-forward: practicality, easy maintenance and somewhere for the three boys to sit and eat for busy meals before hockey practice. Oh, and make it look pretty! We gutted the existing kitchen, moved some appliances and relocated the laundry room and powder room to create a butler’s pantry to house a second refrigerator and the small appliances. We put together a colour palette of warm woods, navy blue, warm grey and crisp white. We collaborated with Deslaurier Custom Cabinets and decided on a classic shaker door style and arched crown moulding. We went for an integrated range-hood, which we cladded in a simple white MDF, to match the floating shelves on each side. The backsplash needed to be easy to clean, so we went with a classic subway tile, in a light warm grey colour which we brought all the way up to the ceiling for a bistro look. The colour of the tile warms up the walls and allows for the white shelves and white quartz to pop. We finished off this kitchen by hanging two statement pendants with brass metal shades. We love how the brass compliments the copper base on the Conwy Stools. Lastly, we rolled out the Garda runner and this kitchen is all set to host both kid birthday parties and cocktail hours for the adults! Powder Room As mentioned, we had to relocate the powder room to create the pantry, so we had a blank canvas! Small powder rooms are the perfect area to do a little something bold. In this powder room, we did so with beautiful patterned tiles from Euro Tile & Stone. The deep blue in the tile worked perfectly with the navy cabinetry (continued from the kitchen). Topped with gold accents and “Grey Owl” by Benjamin Moore on the walls, this powder room is ready to show off to the guests. Master Ensuite The master ensuite was stuck in the 90s and had an odd layout. We were able to make the room larger and removed the bulky bathtub to accommodate a double vanity and a large shower. On the floor, we chose a concrete-look subway tile which we installed in a herringbone pattern. The shower walls have a large, marble-look porcelain tile paired with polished nickel fixtures. The vanity features a recessed detail for a custom look and the warm wood tone of the cabinets warm up the bright and airy room. Wall colour is “Steam” AF-15 by Benjamin Moore. Shop Panmure Mirror
