We visited the L.A. area last week and were so excited for our first stay in the award-winning Kelly Wearstler-designed Proper Hotel. You know with maximalist-loving Wearstler that there will be fascinating details around every corner and Proper was no exception. But, unlike many of Wearstler’s other projects, earthy neutrals reign supreme here. Wearstler took inspiration from the beach, only a few blocks away, incorporating elements throughout that echo the seaside. Take the wood reception desk covered in striations reminiscent of a seashell. Or the curved headboards in each guest room, evoking the sunset. Or the intricate pattern on the floor, resembling the top of an open umbrella. You can count on Wearstler to be both inspired AND inspiring. In addition to boasting these thoughtful design elements, Proper Hotel delivers on a luxury hotel stay. From the cocktails and fine dining scene (we loved the Meze platter!), to Surya, the Ayurvedic spa, to the thoughtfully layered guest rooms and super chic rooftop pool, Proper feels like a true getaway.
