This is a blog dedicated to the English rock band known as The Kinks. The band was formed in Muswell Hill, North London by brothers Ray and Dave Davies, along with Pete Quaife (later replaced by John Dalton in 1969) in 1963 (Mick Avory would join the group in early 1964). The band rose to fame with the success of their third single 'You Really Got Me'. They gained a reputation for reflecting English culture and lifestyle, fuelled by Ray Davies' observational writing style. The Kinks are considered to be one of the most important and influential rock bands of the 1960's and early 1970's. They influenced bands such as The Ramones, The Clash, Oasis, Van Halen, and more. While they are influential, they are also highly underrated. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
