I was recently invited to conduct a bookbinding workshop at the Lyceum Club, Melbourne. As is often the way with busy workshops or classes or talks, one only gets the chance to take photos at the beginning once you've set up, and, as you can see in one of the instagram photos below, in the moment when morning tea or similar is called. The rest of the time goes so quickly. And you are always talking. I really enjoy preparing these workshops, and I enjoy giving them. It was particularly nice to meet, in this recent workshop, a woman who had purchased several of Gracia's original postcard collages to give to each of her grandchildren. The postcards were the ones from G's nighttime postcard series which featured tigers and bears and lions (and which you can just see on the wall here). They were exhibited at Craft Victoria in 2009 as part of our show A key to help make your own world visible. (Don't you remember?) (Thanks, Isobel, for putting my name forward to take this class. I had a lot of fun gluing and folding and chatting and sharing my approach with such a great and friendly bunch of keen participants. I'd happily do it again.) (Next time, Nathalie, Olga, and Alexandra. Fingers crossed for next time.)
