Barbara Jordan, politician & a leader of the Civil Rights Movement. She was the 1st African American elected to the Texas Senate after Reconstruction & the 1st southern Black female elected to the US House of Representatives. She supported the Community Reinvestment Act, Workman's Compensation Act, & the renewal of the Voting Rights Act & its expansion to cover language minorities. She was a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Actress Viola Davis will portray her in a biopic. R.I.P.
