A nice vintage picture of the main street in colorado Springs with Pikes Peak in the background and the Antlers Hotel at the end of the street. I loaded these as HUGE images so you can study all of the fun signs in the pictures. From left to right Greyhound Bus Terminal Blue Spruce Restruant Chief Theater Antlers Hotel Arrow Hotel Ute Theater Cafe Stratton Hotel Also - I think there is a post clock at the right side of the street in front of the Antlers. Other signs are hard to read in the original. Love the bright yellow traffic signal. A better date would be appreciated if you can tell by the cars - please let me know. April 10, 2010 Update Downtown Colorado Springs did not last too much longer after this picture was taken. Antlers Hotel was demolished in 1964. The rest followed soon thereafter. The theaters/opera houses were gone by 1973. Depressing background can be found here: krccnetwork.org/tbs/2010/03/17/ and by studying Google Earth at this location Update April 23, 2010 The link below takes you to the Pikes Peak Regional Library that has a LOT more pictures of this view as well as other historical images of the area www.ppld.org/SpecialCollections/Project/Search.aspx
