Even though your baby isn't likely to be saying many words during the first year, there is still plenty of speech development taking place! This stage is part of your infant's pre-language (or pre-linguistic) development! This means your little one is developing sounds and learning to coordinate the different parts of their mouth to prepare them for saying words! Consider the first year the "warm-up" period for speech that will appear when they are toddlers.
