Hello Frozen lovers! As previously mentioned in my last post My daughter loves Elsa and is going as her character this Halloween. I made the above dress, and then decided to make her a crown wig. So how did I make it? It was quite simple. This pattern is for ages 3 to preteen. If patterns aren't your thing, there's a video at the end of the post. Lets start with the crown... I used just plain ole' white wool yarn. Start with a magic ring. Here's a video by All Free Crochet to help if you don't know how to make one. Round 1: Crochet 12 double crochets into the ring, and join with a slip stitch. Round 2: Chain 2 and crochet 2 double Crochets into each chain (be sure to crochet into the the two chains not just one). You should have a total of 24 chains. Slip stitch into the 2nd chain. Round 3: Chain 2, and crochet 2 double crochets into the next chain, into the next chain 1 double crochet, you will alternate every other chain, One double and then two double crochets into one chain. Slip stitch into the 2nd chain. Round 4: Chain 2, and crochet 1 double crochet into the next chain, then 2 double crochets into the next chain, then 1 double crochet into the next 2 chains, and then a double. So basically 1 double crochet into two chains and then 2 double crochets into the next chain, 1, 1, 2. Slip stitch into the 2nd chain. Round 5: Chain 2, and crochet 6 double crochets into the next 6 stitches (one double crochet into each chain). In the 7th chain crochet 2 double crochets. You will crochet 7 double crochets into each chain and then in the 8th a double crochet, until you make your way back to the start. Slip stitch into 2nd chain. Now you have the crown of your beanie, to begin the length, chain 2 into and crochet 1 double crochet into each chain. Slip stitch into the beginning 2nd chain. You will continue the last step until you reach total of 9 inches from the beginning round to the last very last round. In the last 3 rounds I changed the yarn out to a teal colored yarn by Simply Soft, and its the same color I used for the crown/tiara. If pattern instructions aren't for you... here's a great video! For the blue crown: Lay your beanie flat with the seam on the back side and down the middle. On the front side count 22 chains in the exact center. Here's a video to explain it the best by Yolanda Soto Lopez. Please note though I crocheted mine directly onto the crown. Mine is slightly different from hers, but very similar. I added some rhinestones to the very top part of the crown for extra bling. If you click on the second part she will show you how to do the wig too. I again added some rhinestones to the braid. Thank you so much for tuning in! See ya tomorrow for Worthwhile Wednesdays!
