I have been avoiding designing wedding invites my entire design career—the pressure of someone's special day and the thoughts of a bride/groomzilla were just too much. But that all changed when I got a request from my best friend to do his invites, saying the words every designer dreams of "Do whatever you want. We trust you." On top of having the couple's trust, the wedding was set in Bar Harbor, Maine, complete with water-side ceremony…so many seaside textures and imagery to use! A big thanks to my better half, Richard Sewell, for cutting and sanding the walnut, and to the oh-so-talented (and patient) Abigail Byrd for hand-printing the invites, envelopes, enclosures and postcards. Due to the overwhelming number of requests for me to reproduce these invites, I feel it necessary to state that this is not possible. The cost of materials combined with the labor-intensive handwork make these a one-time deal. Sorry.
