Tibouchina urvilleana is an evergreen shrub in the Melastomataceae family. Common names are Glory Bush, Lasiandra, Princess Flower, and Purple Glory Tree. A native to Brazil. Grows 10–20 feet tall and 7–10 feet wide. The leaves are dark green, with hairs covering the leaves. Brilliant purple flowers that are 4 inches in diameter will come out in the Summer and bloom until the Autumn. It can grow outside but will need shelter from the wind. It grows in acidic, well-drained soils. It can be trained as a vine and grown on a trellis. Zones 9-11 Germination Sow seeds the thickness of the seeds on top of the medium and don't cover with soil. Keep moist in a bright spot. Do not cover and keep temperatures around 65-70F. Germination is in 21-30 days.
