This is a true coming-of-age story from author Raina Telgemeler's childhood. She tells about her adolescent struggles with dental injuries and surgery, dealing with an earthquake, boy troubles, and fake friends. It is for ages 9 and up. I included this novel because, like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, it is a graphic novel about young adult life. Commonsense calls this book "a meaningful story about teen self-acceptance," and Kirkus calls it, "an utterly charming graphic memoir."
