Are you looking for a creative and engaging STEM (STEAM) project for your students? Do you need an activity to keep your kids thinking, designing and actively participating? Do they need area and/or scale reinforcement? This Tiny House project is perfect for all of these and can be done as a STEM summer school project, middle of the year, end of the year...even beginning of the year! It is a great way to review area, scale and proportions. Students make a scale ruler 1/2"=1' 0", practice with it, then use it to design a tiny home that is 400 sq. ft. or less which includes walls, windows, doors, interior and exterior décor. There is a helpful Stop Motion linked taking students through the steps. This project provides an extra challenge for those who have finished their other work. As a whole class project, it is accessible for English learners and students with special needs. Included in this item are: ✅Print Packet PDF-Students are taken through steps to make their own 1/2" = 1' scale ruler, practice with scale, make their own floor plan and transfer that to their building materials. ✅Rubric and Scoring Guide (PDF) ✅3D furniture templates (PDF) These can be printed for each group of students and used for their project ✅1/2"=1' ruler and graph paper (PDF) ✅Stop Motion video taking students through the steps to make their own scaled ruler
