Yellow III Katja Beckman is Presented by BOON_ROOM Yellow III, sculptural tapestry with strong reliefs and rya effect. Made in wool and linen on a full size weaving frame; weaving at a big scale allowed Katja Beckman to combine structures of such varying forms and sizes that the results were uncontrollable in an organic way. The results are sculptural as the surface of the weaving buckles under its own weight. In this way it reflects the raw forms in nature, such as rock formations and moss that are shaped and changed by time. Her works are always determined and strong, but never loud. Despite their strong colors, they do not scream for attention. They are not in a hurry, all they have is time, they are patiently waiting to be watched, for someone to explore the surfaces and allow themselves to get lost. Silence is a language that only those who take the time to listen can understand. She creates sculptural tapestries through the experimental combination of weaving structures, techniques and materials. Exploring the way memories and places appear when recalled in the mind. For example when thinking about exploring the forest in the mountains of Kyoto, she describes the sublime nature of the experience, and the overwhelming feeling of embrace.
