Antique Cameroon Giant Double Bell Agogo Cowrie Handle 36 X 19 X 7"! I have before never seen anything like this. I've had it maybe 15-20 years so it is definitely vintage but I cannot guess the actual age. It has great sound (Yes I play it). The handle is fabric wrapped and completely covered in sewn-on cowries. It also has a striker built-in (see pictures). It has a sweet hollow tonality in between a gong and a bell sound, with a wide variety of tones possible at different points along the bells (and each behh has a different tuning of course). So it is a VERY functional musical instrument and a museum-quality display piece. The last picture is a similar but smaller bell from a royal ceremony in Cameroon.

This Agogo Bell has two differently pitched bells with a great high-low sound. Played with the included mallet, the Agogo Bell is a great way to introduce multi-cultural sounds and music into the classroom!
