I do mean this in the nicest sense! I find it very easy to spend time on Pinterest & a quick 10 minutes can turn into an hour or more before you know it. But I love the concept of a virtual pin board. In my twenties I used to have files of magazine clippings covering recipes, things to make, clothes patterns...which used to spill out in an untidy jumble when ever I tried to look through them. So I admit I have a number of boards on Pinterest for inspiration & now I've actually made something I've pinned :D This frame hangs proudly in our hall housing coins from our families travels around the world & I love the mix of colours & different coins catch my eye each time I pass. Here is a closer view. The need to fill the frame had us rummaging though old boxes & tins in the garage plus collecting coins on our recent trip away. I have plans to act on other pins real soon :) Happy pinning.

Made from a vintage cutter quilt. These sweet little purse pouches are just the right size for money or cards. You could also use them to carry your lip gloss, lotion, or hair accessories in. I love the idea that this is made from a vintage quilt that was no longer in good enough shape to be used, but way to precious to be thrown out. Each pouch is lined with cute corresponding fabric and I’ve used vintage buttons and embellishments to add a decorative touch. No two pouches are exactly alike and when you order you’ll get one of these or another that I’m working on right now. *measures approximately 5 1/2 inches x 5 1/2 Most of the cutter quilts I use are hand sewn and much loved. Because they are so old there will be imperfections in the fabric or stitching. I believe this adds character to the finished product. I love that they get to be used and loved again by another generation.

In looking for botanical inspiration for my new book, I stumbled across this beautiful photo online by photographer, Steve Stenzel. I love this photo for so many reasons but I especially am impressed by how it represents the life cycle of this particular plant. From the new growth of spring all the way to the end of autumn. I am so drawn to this natural color palette. So much so in fact.. that I showed this picture to the ladies of Spincycle Yarns and they used it in creating a special new colorway just for me. And they did such a phenomenal job! This beautiful yarn perfectly captures the colors of changing leaves. The way that the colors subtly change from one to the next perfectly expresses this idea of the natural life cycle of spring to autumn. I am not usually one to go for multi-colored yarn.. but this one I love. With this yarn I created my "Life Cycle" scarf design. This is an accent scarf consisting of a string of big leaves.. one growing out of the next. It works so perfectly with this yarn and I am so happy with it. This scarf pattern will be included in my upcoming book, Botanical Knits 2. The scarf pattern will call for 2 skeins of Spincycle Dyed in the Wool yarn. This special colorway is called "End of Summer" and is available HERE.
