Collages are things of joy and fun since they tend to be not just one piece of art but a mix of several. And the best part is that while like other art, it needs imagination, the skill or talent that is required is not on the same level of art forms like painting or sculpting. Having said that, we are not putting down the art of collage making; it really does a lot of skill and imagination and this is something that we cannot deny in any case. There are clever and meaningful collage art examples that will definitely convince you on this point. We are sure that most people who started making a collage started out thinking that getting a collage board on and then randomly sticking on pictures of your choice on it will get you the kind of collages that you see out there. The first thing that you should do is learn how to make a collage and get some simple tips to get you started. However, the kind of collages that we are talking about in this article is not the kind that has a simple theme underlying in it.

About Maria Rivans is a contemporary British artist, known for her scrapbook-style collage aesthetic. A mash-up of Surrealism meets Pop-Art, Rivans’s work re-appropriates vintage ephemera to create dreamy realms, which transport the viewer into fantastical worlds of the imaginary. Each one finished with a dusting of subtle humor. In her pin-up series, Maria Rivans reclaims iconic femininity to champion female strength. Her exotic and escapist works are often laced with ominous undertones, to remind us of the darker side of human nature. Starring Jean Simmons - British starlet of 1950s fame - as ‘Joy’, an exuberant and sunny character, Rivans’s print has the heady buzz of spring about it. Filled with the joys of life, Joy sparkles in her feathered, off-the-shoulder collar and signature exotic headdress, which brims with flora, fauna, and fantastical fragments. A lover of nature and music, travelling and the simple pleasures of life, Joy wears her passions on her bounteous bonnet: vintage cars for speeding across countries; old-fashioned radios for tuning into meandering melodies; bumblebees signal her ecological activism; firecrackers for the vitality of life; the lull of the sea, sounding in the depths of pearly shells; and the soft wings of white birds for taking flight at the drop of a headdress. Through an intense attention to detail and an artistic sensitivity to color and composition, each of Rivans’ artworks is the product of months of careful deliberations and decisions, every tiny tweak necessary in the final formation. Maria Rivans works from her studio in Brighton and exhibits throughout the UK. Her work is also highly appreciated internationally. Her colorful collages can be seen from New York to Hong Kong. ''Joy'' has an edition of 60.
