Seoul-based artist WanJin Gim illustrates the form and gesture of the human body using complex hatched layers of color and dramatic lighting. He adds intrigue to poses that could be considered traditional figure drawing studies by adding abstracted lines and watercolor washes that integrate the fragmented body parts into a larger visual field. In an interview with Trending All Day, the artist describes his inspiration and process: I’m interested in expressing body temperature and skin smell and am studying the relationship between color and energy (Qi) for my work… Currently I usually use oil pastel and colored pencils. DIGITAL DOWNLOAD ONLY. This beautiful painting of a sailboat at sunset captures the beauty of the ocean in a captivating way. The painting is done with water colored pencil and ink and shows a sailboat with its sails billowing in the wind, with the setting sun casting a warm orange glow across the horizon. The colors blend together in a way that makes the painting look almost ethereal, and the detail of the boat and the waves crashing against its hull creates a calming and peaceful atmosphere. The colors and composition create an almost dream-like image, making it perfect for anyone looking to bring a bit of serenity and beauty into their home.

I've been painting since I was little. I loved bringing to life all the stories and fantastic characters that were living in my head. Later, art helped me to get through many dark days that came along. My colors and brushes became my therapist, my canvases, my friend, and everything I was feeling was illustrated with their help. Since becoming a mother I've circled back to my childhood fantasy painting. It connects me to my inner child and brings back that magical time of innocence.

With long, elegant fingers and brawny limbs, the women that define Hanna Lee Joshi’s gouache and colored pencil works move through the unknown and indiscernible with strength. The Vancouver-based artist renders anonymous figures in motion, whether dancing together or gracefully gliding through water, on their search for greater autonomy and fulfillment unobscured by political, cultural, and social impositions. In comparison to her earlier series, Joshi’s most recent pieces rely more heavily on shades of blue and use more subtle gradients to contour a leg or elbow. More
