Packaging has an important role to play: it is the first thing you see and builds anticipation. So making it extra pretty has always be my goal. It also gives me an opportunity to craft something – especially important when your gift is bought. Last year, I gifted all my neighbours some candy. A candy manufacturer had been a client of mine back then and I had tons of it. Too much for me to handle. So I thought it’s a good idea to let others appreciate it. However, I always feel weird gifting something that I already had at home. Is that silly? Let me know in the comments! To make the gift special (and quiet my conscious for gifting something I got for free) I created DIY paper bags that I painted to make them look like gingerbread houses. I’m so smitten with the packaging that it did quiet my mind – also the neighbours were really appreciative and brought me cookies in exchange. The big cookie tasting of 2019 – that’s what that Christmas will be known from now on. I can only recommend to do the same. How to make the paper bags What you need: brown …

Sunday-evening and the weekend is almost over........ a creative weekend! Yesterday morning I got a phone call from my girl-friend Erna, if I could bring some things for her from the market en the fabric-store: fastening-rings and lavendel, she had a new idea…….While drinking coffee later on she told me her idea: tea bags filled with lavender! She saw a picture on the internet and she wanted to make them by herself. Ze had inmiddels al een theezakje ontleed….. She had already fold out a tea bag…… With some nice wrapping paper (or paper from an old dictionary), fastening-rings, lavender or aniseed and a piece of rope, you make a fine smelling tea bag. Papier vouwen tot een theezakje (bovenkant even vastplakken met plakband om te voorkomen dat de lavendel eruit valt), vullen met lavendel of steranijs, bovenkant omvouwen, nestelring bevestigen, touwtje erdoor en dan is dit het resultaat: Fold the paper as a teabag (put some tape above, to object the contents from falling out), fill it with lavender or aniseed, fold the upper side, fasten a ring, piece of rope through the ring and the result is: ’s Avonds kwam ze nog even langs om haar productie geur-theezakjes te laten zien. In the evening my girl-friend dropped by to show her production of smelling tea-bags. I had just started to make my first bag…..and because all the stuff was lying on the kitchen table, we started folding and filling and, of course, drinking coffee. It is so much fun making these simple things at the kitchentable with each other…… She also gave me an old piece of lead, it looked so nice all those different grey- tints. This evening I started working on it, happily my husband wanted to help me cutting, because my thumb got cramped. Between the tinkering I had to go to the tenniscourt, my daughter had to play some matches (actually I was too busy, but I had to listen to my mother-heart). After the match, cycling on my way back I filled my basket with these berries. Again I made (again) wreaths out of it……a little bit of autumn already………
