LARGE Vintage Hand Made Crochet Doilies and Bits Pack This is the largest and best doily pack on Etsy! Weighs 3 ounces before packaging, most other sellers only give you 1 ounce of mostly junky bits that aren't very useable. What you see is what you will get! I am giving you all of the good pieces! Most of this pack is either whole uncut doilies or whole design pieces cut from large hand made crochet tablecloths with a few of the pretty connector bits but NO JUNK! I have made these especially for you and because I don't like to buy something and receive junk, I won't sell you junk! A variety of shades of White, Cream, Ivory, Beige AND I HAND COFFEE DYED SOME FOR YOU! One piece looks like tatting to me but done in a thicker thread, not sure if all of these pieces were crocheted or if there may be a few pieces made in a different way...all are old hand made pieces and beautiful and that's what matters! *BONUS ANTIQUE HAND MADE LOOKING FINE LACE PIECE INCLUDED in cream with blue accents, these pieces are very old and may be needle lace but I am not sure, what I do know is they are fabulous and the perfect size for the cover on a junk journal! All items are beautifully packed and shipped in new Stay Flat, bubble or other appropriate packaging to insure your items arrive safely to your door. Use these pretty doily pieces in a wide variety of art and craft projects, either use them whole as I have left them for you or cut them up into more little bits to decorate a snippet roll or belly band, use to embellish a quilt or slow stitch embroidery piece, use them to embellish a plain canvas tote bag or pillow cover, a scrapbook page or greeting card. Includes lots of larger pieces to use on the cover of a junk journal and use the smaller pieces to decorate journal cards and tags...so many options! A variety of thicknesses, some are thin and others have more dimension to them depending on the size of crochet thread that was used. Vintage, 1950's -1980's, all are clean and have been in my collection for years, now that's not to say that there aren't a few pieces that may have a small spot because they are vintage and to me that just adds character! Please note that this pack includes doilies that were cut from a larger piece and may have frayed edges, not all are perfect doilies. Great variety in useful mix of neutral colors. All my laces and trims come in clean condition and were never around smoke or pets. These are from a limited vintage supply so when they are gone they are gone! Please contact me if you have any questions. Thank you!
I love doilies. As the post over at The Idea Room shows so many ways that doilies can be reused, upcycled, repurposed and altered I could be making everything there. These wrist cozies happen to be…
When my grandmother passed away years ago I was gifted a hefty pile of her doilies. I think every surface in her home was covered with them (starched to the point that they made a light clicking noise when you put them down 😂). She did such beautiful work and I really would like to create something with them so that they aren't hidden away in my closet. So I headed to Pinterest for some ideas and found even more than I expected. If you have a pile of doilies like I do, a piece of wall art is a beautiful option. The doilies are either sewn to fabric or glued to canvas, and can be embellished with buttons, brooches or other jewelry, chipboard shapes, or artificial flowers. www.pinterest.ca/pin/24889 www.pinterest.ca/pin/248894316896270106/ A single doily, regardless of its size, can be displayed in a picture frame. Often the pressure of the frame backing is enough to hold it in place, so this can be a good choice if you don't want to be bothered with stitching or glue. www.pinterest.ca/pin/248894316891735590/ Consider adding a mat to your frame to highlight the part of the doily you like best. This is a good way to display a piece that is torn or stained. www.hometalk.com/diy-vintage-doily-art If you want to make more of a picture, doilies lend themselves well to flowers or snowflakes: blog.consumercrafts.com/diy-canvas-wall-art-flowers/ www.pinterest.ca/pin/248894316891735628/ www.yarnspirations.com/red-heart-tree-of-snowflakes You can use a doily as the center of a beautiful dreamcatcher. This requires a metal or wooden hoop and some extra pieces of lace or ribbon. You can also add feathers, beads, or other embellishments. www.prettydesigns.com/15-crochet-dream-catcher-ideas-for-diy Here is another wall hanging idea, which would be particularly suited to doilies with a more oblong shape: www.pinterest.ca/pin/248894316896317528/ Adding a photograph of the person that made your doily can create a beautiful keepsake. You could also add jewelry, handwritten recipes, or other memorabilia. www.panopramangas.com/2012/05/another-favourite-shop lace.selbermachendeko.com/shabby-white-decor-altered-lace-art If wall art is not your thing, there are a number of ways you can incorporate your doilies into your decor. Add them to throw pillows, lamp shades, tablecloths, curtains, vases, candle holders... basically anything you can think of! www.pinterest.ca/pin/248894316896320105/ www.pinterest.ca/pin/1072420 www.pinterest.ca/pin/35677022038472161/ Sew many doilies together to create a curtain, window valance, table cloth, or bed spread. You can either leave the doilies as they are or sew them to a backing fabric. Having a backing will provide a lot of support and structure to the finished piece. Leaving the doilies without a backing gives more of a boho look and also allows light through. www.pinterest.ca/pin/223913412713991601/ www.pinterest.ca/pin/248894316896277290/ www.livemaster.ru/topic/825383 If you feel like playing with heavy starch, you can create an assortment of items. Simply mold your doily around an object with an appropriate shape and allow to dry. You can use bottles, aluminum cans, bowls, or boxes. Even balloons will work. Just be sure not to use items that can rust, such as tin cans, as the rust can transfer to your doily. https://www.pinterest.ca/pin/248894316896320189/ www.hearthandmade.co.uk/crafts-with-lace-doilies www.pinterest.ca/pin/774759942138062070/ For something quite simple, make a little sachet for potpourri or scented wax wafers: www.pinterest.ca/pin/248894316896320106/ If you are overloaded with small ones (or want to take the scissors to your larger ones) you can make this gorgeous wreath: www.pinterest.ca/pin/248894316896320107/ If you are handy with a sewing machine (or know someone who is) you can even incorporate your doilies into your wardrobe: www.pinterest.ca/pin/248894316896320099/ And finally, if all you have are bits and pieces, here are a couple of craft ideas that will still allow you to put them on display: www.pinterest.ca/pin/248894316893180771/ www.pillarboxblue.com/angel-wings-christmas-ornament www.pinterest.ca/pin/34551122131551705/ After all my pinterest-ing I have decided to glue some of my doilies to a painted canvas to make a piece of wall art.
